Job Description
The Department of Music and Drama invites applications for an Instructor position in Theater/Drama. The position includes teaching courses in Theater/Drama as well as courses in the General Education program. Responsibilities include teaching Introduction to Acting, Theatre Appreciation, and related Theatre and Communication courses (one or more of the following: Acting for the Camera, Corporate Communication, Technical Theatre, Interactive Media, Voice and Diction, Script Analysis), as well as General Education courses, particularly Public Speaking and other courses as appropriate. The successful candidate will also direct and produce at least one play per year. Experience with Musical Theatre is an asset. The selected applicant is expected to be a flexible team player and remain current in teaching practices and international trends. Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and effective use of classroom media and technology are expected. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate classes to majors and non-majors of diverse cultural backgrounds and serve on faculty committees.
Qualifications
Education:
– Master’s degree in theater/drama; doctorate/ABD is preferred.
Experience
– Experience teaching drama courses and general education courses.
