Job Description
The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Instructor position. The successful candidate will join a dynamic department committed to excellence in teaching, student success, and continuous improvement. The position involves teaching a range of undergraduate writing courses, supporting student learning through the University’s Writing Center, and contributing to the Department’s academic and service activities.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:

– Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate writing courses as assigned.
– Support student learning through participation in the Writing Center.
– Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
– Maintain course materials and documentation in accordance with departmental and University policies.
– Engage in professional development activities to stay current with pedagogical best practices.
– Contribute to departmental, college, and University service.
– Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of an Instructor.
Qualifications
Education:
– A Master’s degree in English, English Literature, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
Experience
– Experience teaching undergraduate English and/or writing courses is required.
– Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and engaging undergraduate student.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
– Ability to motivate, engage, and support students in a diverse, multicultural learning environment.
– Experience teaching writing courses at the university level.
– Experience working in a Writing Center or similar academic support environment.
– Experience teaching in a liberal arts institution.
– Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and continuous improvement processes.
