Project Overview

The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.

The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.

Job Summary

The Construction Engineer role will support the Construction Manager in the development and delivery of a new operational village, ensuring scope, schedule, and quality requirements are met safely and efficiently. Your work will contribute to ensuring construction activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

– Monitor performance within the discipline of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
– Leads constructability reviews, optimises construction sequencing, logistics, and methodology.
– Coordinate with engineering and design consultants to ensure construction requirements are  reflected in design deliverables.
– Support the development of site layouts, temporary works strategies, logistics and phasing plans for construction.
– Leads development of overall construction execution plans, resource strategies, and resource estimates.
– Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to develop construction packaging and delivery strategies.
– Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) considerations are embedded in all aspects of design and planning.
– Review and monitor implementation of robust quality control plans during design and construction phases.
– Maintain awareness of design evolution, scope changes, and their potential impacts on construction methods, costs, and schedules.
– Coordinates with Construction Management on contract administration and activities affecting contract administration operation.
– Reviews project control documents for cost estimates, budgets, risk assessments, and reviews progress reporting for construction scope against these documents.
– Provide guidance and mentorship to assigned project and field personnel, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
– Establishes a design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Field Engineers including agreement on engineering deliverables.
– Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
– Responsible for tracking and maintenance of required site permits and licenses.
– Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations.
– Processes change order, requests for information and field change documentation
– Identifies areas of risk and opportunity in contractor performance.

Education And Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

– A strong understanding of construction means, methods and requirements, including experience reviewing Contractors’ submittals, work method statements, safety plans, quality plans and traffic control plans for compliance with contract documents.
– Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors. Must be strong in construction technical knowledge.  
– Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills at varying levels of the organization.
– Ability to work effectively under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines
– Demonstrated ability to effectively influence outcomes and escalate issues appropriately.
– Must be a self-starter and highly motivated to succeed.
– Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems.
– Previous, related, working experience in the middle-east is highly preferred. 
– Past experience in the planning and implementation of a site accommodation camp is preferred
